WordPress hosting and costs
-
Hello
Currently we are being hosted by another internet provider where service level has recently fallen low.
If our domanin name (as shown above in the subject line) was registered with another provider, can WordPress take over as the hosting server for our website? What is the cost on a monthly basis? Apart from the hosting can WordPress also provide email facilities? How many emails are provided when hosting a website on/through WordPress?
When hosting a website/domain will all the details be published as on the previous website server? Will the website / domain name be hosted as our own chosen name and without the words – wordpress.com?
Is there any other cost apart from the hosting of the website? Is the invoice sent on a monthly basis? If we have other domains too can these be hosted via WordPress? Where exatly is WordPress based? In which city/country is the HQ for WordPress? How soon can WordPress take over the function of hosting a website and a domain? Can this be done within say 24-48 hours? Or will it take longer?
Please kindly send full details by email to
Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you soon.

First, you can find our prices at https://wordpress.com/pricing/
We have two ways to use a domain you already own with site hosted here at WordPress.com:
Domain Connection allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/
Both will require a paid plan, any paid plan.
You can choose to pay for your plan monthly or annually, and the annual rate costs a bit less than the monthly rate.
As for email, we have some recommendations at https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/
For how soon the site can be up and running, it depends on what specifically you’re moving from, and you can find instructions at https://transferto.wordpress.com/
And, as for where we’re located, we’re a fully globally distributed company. You can find a fun map at https://automattic.com/about/
Please let us know if you have any more questions!
