WordPress linked across sites

    Hello, I ran my tennis blog many years ago on WordPress. It had a Gravatar associated with it.

    Many years later, I set up a website, using the same email address. I did not install WordPress.

    Yet, when I login to the management panel for that website, the Gravatar for my sports blog appears.

    Why?

    I made no connection between my website and WordPress. The only thing common to both is my email address.

    While I can disabled Gravatar, change the picture or whatever, I want to know why there is any connection at all.

    Correct account: Yes

    Gravatar associates a profile pic with your email address. So, any service can use the Gravatar API to pull your profile picture if you set up an account using that email address.
