  I was watching a tutorial on how to make a website. I noticed that the way he built the site looked different from mine (right now). I was wondering if the paid interface looks different from the free interface.

  Both interfaces are the same, but you probably watched a video about wordpress.org. WordPress.com and wordpress.org are 2 completely different systems.
