  Hi!

  I would like to revert to wordpress.com however my site has been taken down months ago and I only have the zipped file backup ( tar.gz format). Is there any way I can get all my post and pages from the backup? What is the best solution to do?

  When you unbundle your tar.gz backup, is the file inside .xml?

  Were the backups by any chance created with a specific WordPress backup plugin?

  I’m not sure I understand what you mean here. Are you saying the archive contains just one folder with a php file? A WordPress backup should contain several folders with .php and .sql files, and likely others as well.

  If you have a .sql file, that is, your site’s database file, we might be able to help you, though I can’t make any promises. If you don’t have that, there’s nothing we’ll be able to do.
