WordPress.org Website with a WordPress.com Subdomain
-
Hello everyone!
I already started a free wordpress.com website with a free subdomain. Now, I started a free Oracle-hosted website but the link is still an IP address. Can I (legally) use the wordpress.com subdomain for the new wordpress.org website? What are the steps to follow? -
Hi there,
The WordPress.com site cannot be used on other hosts. The only way to have an *.wordpress.com domain is to actually be hosted on WordPress.com.
There is not a way to direct the subdomain to be used on another site in this case. If you are needing a.org site so you can upload plugins and themes, you may want to consider our WordPress.com Business Plan, which gives your WordPress.com site all the capabilities it would have with a .org site.
