  Can I just download wordpress to see if I am able to create a website without a domain name and host? I just want to try see how difficult it is to learn how to use wordpress. If it is possible, how do I do it?

  Sure, you can download WordPress software and try it locally, but we wouldn’t be able to help with this.

  To clear up any further confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and they are two different entities.

  WordPress.com is a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.

  That said, you can create a free site on WordPress.com and see how you like it. No need to upgrade or register a custom domain until you’re ready.
