WordPress stats from LinkedIn views
-
I post my WordPress blogs automatically to my LinkedIn page. When writing I use the ‘read more’ function so that LinkedIn people are encouraged to click on the link to read the article on my WordPress site. Today I had hundreds of views on LinkedIn, but a much smaller number in my WordPress site stats. Does that mean that there is a problem with the stats, or is LinkedIn measuring something other than people clicking on the article link?

I notice in LinkedIn that there is now a window (within LinkedIn) that opens when you click on my (WordPress) article, containing the full article (previously it opened my WordPress site, where the article was originally posted). Is this something new to LinkedIn that cannot be avoided, or is there something in the WordPress settings that I can do to revert back to the original situation (i.e. LinkedIn users get taken to my WordPress site)?

A point of clarification: The issue identified above seems only to be on mobile, and not desktop.

Good Morning –
The first thing I’d suggest is removing your LinkedIn connection on Publicize and then reconnecting it. That process will trigger a sync of any missing stats.

I’ve tested the connection with our tools and it passes with out any errors.
Please confirm for us that you’re working on themoneynarrative.wordpress.com. If it is a different site in question share that URL.

I am working on https://themoneynarrative.wordpress.com/. I unlinked and reconnected (both on laptop and on mobile) and the result seems to be the same with my new post this morning (lots of hits on LinkedIn, few on WordPress). What seems to be different from before is that, on mobile (but not laptop), the viewer sees the entire article on LinkedIn (on laptop the reader is taken to the WordPress site to see the article). Thus, I surmise, most viewers are using mobile so the hits on WordPress are low (but high on LinkedIn). Obviously I want my WordPress site to have good numbers, so having LinkedIn users taken to my site is required. Is there something else I can do?

Just to be sure, I deleted the app on my mobile device and then reinstalled it – same result.

Thanks for that information. Looking at the most recent post and other posts I can see that you have the read more button enabled which encourages a reader to click through to the full post. LinkedIn doesn’t necessarily abide by the same formatting rules which work when applied in WordPress.com. We don’t have control over how they choose to display the content.
After reviewing the post one suggestion that I can make is to add a post excerpt. That option is found on the right hand side of the screen when you are editing a post. Take a look and see if that makes any difference with how LinkedIn displays your posts.
There are some other tips on increasing your audience on these pages:

I did that but there is no change. I suspect it is simply LinkedIn’s decision to be more “user friendly” and (more importantly for them) for their users to see their advertisements on the LinkedIn display of the article. Thanks for your help. I am disappointed that the numbers may be lower than the traffic on LinkedIn, but at least there are some additional hits. If you see a fix to this problem, please let me know.

Thanks themoneynarrative. Would you also be willing to include a link to the post on LinkedIn?

Sure, from LinedIn, click the three dots in the corner of the post. You should see an option to copy a link. Then you can paste it here. For example:
