WordPress theme "install theme" tab not there

WordPress theme “install theme” tab not there when I go under themes on my dashboard.

I have uploaded by ftp my theme that I purchased on another platform, as well as the “genesis” framework it will work on.

All I want to do is use my theme through my genesis framework… could you tell me how to do this ? It is all very complicated and I wanted something simple :(

also my blog URL is supposed to be lukebrunettin.com and I can only select “lukebrunettin.wordpress.com” for posting this question… why !! heeeeeelp I’m so confused

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

also important to this problem : I have hosted through “dreamhost” my wordpress blog – not sure I did this right – it’s all too complicated for me. But I read you had to do this through wordpress.org and not .com or the button will not appear and you cannot load themes and genesis –

    Button still not there though…

Ok I have checked with “dreamhost” support and they say the following :

“lukebrunettin.com is currently registered with WordPress.com – so if you bought it from them and want to host it here, you would need to login to your account with them and change the nameservers to ns1.dreamhost.com, ns2.dreamhost.com, ns3.dreamhost.com to point the domain to us for hosting.”
    – I asked if we could upload themes to it and response

“Not to WordPress.com, so you would want to do what I outlined above – login to your account with them and change the domain’s nameservers to point the domain to us. Then you can use the One Click Installer in our system to add WordPress to the domain, and that will allow you to upload your theme.”

So I would like to do that, change de domains nameservers to point the domain to them.

    How to proceed ? Thanks

I have done this- changed domain name servers – but still no resolving this.

    I cannot ftp to site.

I cannot launch their install and get things going. Why ?

If I cannot do this through wordpress.com I was not aware of this and would it be possible to transfer to wordpress.org ? Or refund and I do it ? Thanks

  • I am seeing lukebrunettin.com point to your webhost. I do not know why you are unable to launch the installation process. That is something that your webhost should be able to help you with. WordPress.com itself wouldn’t have any connection to that install system.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has complete documentation and support sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at http://codex.wordpress.org/ and http://wordpress.org/support/

Hi there, thanks for your answer.

At .com you tell me to go see .org and they tell me to come here haha

Anyways, now it seems that their support are saying that I am getting a “cached” version of my website, and that is on wordpress.com to flush it.

I don’t fully understand all this though.

    What to do next ?

  • I’m not sure what that would have to do with us.

Have you tried clearing your browser’s cache?
