WordPress.com hosting and themeforest theme
-
I am confused. In the past, I have had clients who purchased a domain name and I was able to import a themeforest them for them to use on their blog. Now I have a client who purchased a domain and a one year hosting agreement from you (tricoloreq.com). Then I purchased a themeforest theme (u-design) for her, and I can’t import it. Now I am seeing that something has changed and I have to be on wordpress.org to use it, but she has already paid for a year on wordpress.com. What gives? Themeforest themes say that they work with wordpress. Please advise on what to do. Client is ready to get this launched and my hands are tied.

I’m sorry, but themes can’t be uploaded to WordPress.com. That has always been a feature of self-hosted blogs through WordPress.org, and never possible on WordPress.com.

You may use any of the available themes we have under Appearance > Themes in your dashboard, and you may want to look into purchasing the Custom Design Upgrade to customize one of the themes we offer:

You can also post suggestions for new themes on our public user forum. Please see here for details:

If they purchased a domain here, you can move the domain to another site, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > Domains, at the bottom of the page. If it’s something else, like a bundle, it can be canceled and refunded within 30 days.
