WordPress.com hosting for 3rd party themes

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I’ve been using Vamtam themes on some wp.org sites (3rd party hosting).

Since WordPress.com is now offering, apparently and to my understanding, professional hosted subscriptions that also allow external theme installations and plugins I wanted to see whether the sites in question could be moved to wordpress.com hosting.

Any thoughts on that and how to approach this?

    Thanks in advance,
    Kristinn

By the way the blog listed in the link is obviously not the one in question.

  • Hi there,

We have a guide for migrating from self-hosted WordPress installations here:

    https://transferto.wordpress.com/

Note that only content, i.e. posts and pages, can be transferred between sites. Your theme, plugins, and any other settings and configurations cannot be exported, so you cannot import it here – we don’t offer FTP access on any plan, so it’s not possible to upload a full backup of the site directly to our servers.

Let me know if you have any questions about this. Also note that once you purchase a Business Plan you’ll have access to live chat support, and you’ll be able to book a session with a Happiness Engineer to help you with the initial setup of your site and to answer any questions you might have in real time.
