WordPress.com import never finishes
-
I began a WordPress.com import from my self hosted WordPress blog (virtual server at an ISP) site late yesterday afternoon. 16 hours later, the import has not completed. I cannot do anything with the blog.
I previously imported 3 other blogs, one of which was larger than the one that WordPress.com’s import has gotten hung up on.
Can the current import be stopped so I can try again? Or what else?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I do not see a pending import under your account at the moment. Did your content eventually appear on your WordPress.com site?
Let me know and I will be happy to look further into this for you.
Thanks!

Thank you for your response!
Seems to be an issue with Firefox not WordPress.
This morning I still saw saw no posts have been imported and the spinning wheel (in Firefox).
On a whim, I logged in with Opera, and the import shows completed and the posts are there :)
I will clear out the Firefox cache later and presumably that will fix Firefox’s problem.

Nope – I was wrong. I have several blogs I am converting and I looked at the wrong one in Opera. Once the correct one is selected, it still says it is importing the blog with the spinning wheel still going and going and going …
Guess I will try to delete the entire blog and start over. Will I be able to reuse the URL site name? I will see.
-
Do not delete the site because you will not be able to retrieve the URL once doing so.
Where are you importing the blog from? I should be able to see the import processing from where ever it is coming from.
-
I deleted the site and gave up on that.
I did create another one as coldstreams3d.wordpress.com and tried to import the WordPress blog there but it too has been spinning now for over 12 hours.
I was concerned perhaps a .htaccess redirect on the parent site might be redirecting something referenced on the original blog and put the .htaccess file offline during that 12 hours. But it does not appear to have been a factor.
At this point, the important into the (new) blog at coldstream3d.wordpress.com remains stuck, spinning wheels.

Self hosted WordPress blog running version 4.7.3.
I successfully transferred 3 other self hosted WordPress blogs doing this:
In blog Dashboard, Tools | Export then All content selected, output to file sitename.wordpress.2017-04-09.xml
Back in WordPress.com, Settings | Import and specify the file exported in above step for import.
WordPress.com identifies the author names and asks how I would like to link these up. I link them all to the new account name.
The import spinning wheel continues spinning today. WordPress.com is stuck, no error messages, no progress information, no indication as to what problem may be occurring.

Ah, I see that you have several sites under your account and i am probably looking under the wrong one. Which site under your account were you trying to import your content to?
-
The site where the import is stuck is:
Site URL prefix coldstreams3d
User ID 3coldstreamsSeparate issue from all this: When I created my first web blog on WordPress.com, the Add New Site option did not appear on the My Sites screen. Seriously. I logged in using two different browsers – same result. Consequently, as a work around, I created a new account for each of the new blogs on WordPress.com, and made one of my IDs an invited admin of all of them. After I did that, then the Add Site option started to appear on all my sites. Obviously, I would have preferred to have created them all under one account but will live with this.

Hi there,
I have deleted the import job. Can you please try running the import again?
bigeasysportstalk.com/wp-admin/import.php
If it fails again, please let us know and we can investigate further for you.
Did you see this support page in regards to adding a new site to an existing account?
https://en.support.wordpress.com/create-a-blog/#adding-a-new-site-or-blog-to-an-existing-account
You should be able to add a new site with those instructions. If you want all of your sites under one account, I can assist you with that as well.
Thanks!
