WordPress.com security

My wordpress sites hosted on private hosting servers were hacked a few times. Despite I deployed security plugins, it did not help. I am thinking of moving the site to wordpress.com. Do you ensure sites hosted with you are secured?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com is a great deal more secure than most WordPress.org sites, because they do not allow javascript, iframes, raw flash, FTP access, or the use of “admin” as the username of the administrator. You can’t add plugins or external themes, either, both very common ways websites are hacked.

Generally speaking if a site here is hacked it’s because somebody’s email got hacked and they got into it that way. So make sure your email is secure.

Thanks. Good to know. But if I cannot load plugins and themes, I have to design everything myself. That is also not viable. In my current WP sites, I use on-line forms, lightbox pop up, SEO optimizers, security plugins, email queues, etc. Are there secured versions of those available free at wordpress.com?

No, you don’t have to design everything yourself. WordPress.com is a turnkey blogging solution and if you go to the dashboard Themes page you’ll see over 200 free themes and many premium ones you can use here. There’s a contact form built in. SEO on a WP.com blog exceeds anything I have ever seen on a WP.org blog because of the way it is built and the fact there are 40+ million blogs hosted here.

And like I said, security is seriously good.
