WordPress.com to .org – best alternative

  I have a wordpress.com account with a website that has not yet been completed – i actually wished to upload a theme created by gorillathemes.com but did not realize this cannot occur using a wordpress.com account. I wish to use wordpress.org to upload my purchased theme and use it on my own website, does this mean i need to purchase a new domain name? Thanks
