Would like to keep existing site until new site is ready

    I would like to eventually transfer my current domain to wordpress, but I would like my existing Site to stay exactly as it is while I build the new site. How would i go about this?

    Hi jpccomposer,

    This would be possible. You could start by creating a free WordPress.com site, importing content and choosing a theme. Importing content won’t remove it from the current site so that will stay working.

    Once everything is set up on this end, the existing domain can be mapped or transferred to WordPress.com — both options would require a paid plan.

    If you plan to use the Business plan, it’s worth noting that custom plugins and themes can only be installed with a custom domain.
