Would like to transfer domain from godaddy.com to wordpress.com
-
I created a blog for wendydrexlerpoetry.com on WordPress.com in June of 2015. I domain-mapped from godaddy.com to wordpress.com. Now the domain name is scheduled to expire on godaddy.com on 12/17/2016. We’d like to move the domain hosting directly to wordpress.com. What are the steps I should follow and what are all the fee?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names. Therefore, we recommend that you keep the name registered at your current registrar and continue mapping it to your WordPress.com site.

My client would prefer not to pay twice annually (once to GoDaddy and once to you for the mapping fee). So if you don’t accept transfers, does it become a matter of letting the domain expire at GoDaddy, and waiting until the domain becomes available again, and then purchasing it through you?

You would have to allow the domain to expire and then wait through the expiration process and hope that it made it through to be released into the pool of available domains.
To be honest, it’s not really worth the risk of losing your domain just to be able to register it here at WordPress.com. I would encourage you to find a registrar you like, transfer your domain there, and map it to your WordPress.com site.

Thank you for your opinion. I'll let you know what the client decides. In the meantime, can you give me the link to where one purchases domains on your site?

You can find instructions for that here:
