WP-based Webpage Broken, Need Help

A brief history:
I am an informally educated website editor for my Not For Profit agency. The old site was changed by my going in and changing code (thank you, google), adding text and links, uploading and connecting pictures, etc.
The agency hired a consultant to migrate our website to DreamHost last year and he updated the look using WordPress. I can still handle content changes, but all these plugins are new territory for me.
One of the plugins, LayerSlider WP, seems to now have premium components in its newest version. It is the only thing I can’t update and my subpages can be accessed from the Homepage. When I try to update the plugin, I get sent to Envato.com where I can purchase the license to use LayerSlider WP. It seems that this update is what is interfering with the ability to access any subpages on the site.
I need to find a replacement for LayerSlider, but have no experience in this aspect of the website. I work for a Not For Profit, so do not have the funds available to pay for a subscription to LayerSlider WP, so am looking for a free, but quality replacement (searches have pointed me toward Soliloquy). I need assistance figuring out how to replace that plugin without trashing my site further, as well as any info on what errors I may encounter linking subpages and other content.
Any help and advice would be appreciated.

What is your site URL? Based off of what you are describing, it appears you’re in the wrong forum. Your site is using the open source WordPress.org software and you need to seek help at these forums:

Didn’t know there was a difference, but it appears you’re right on the money!
Went looking for support and ended up here. Thanks for the info and links. I’ll try wordpress.org link.
