WP Engineer Incompetence with Site Ownership

I would have preferred to share this in a chat with an engineer directly but it seems that option is no longer available or buried in the byzantine labyrinth of their menus. Regardless, here is my issue:

I started a webpage on behalf of an organization. After the organization was up and running, I turned over all control of the website to their staff. And, I removed myself from the site (administration, etc.) However, WordPress continues to send me payment notices for the site and refuses to allow the new staff (who all have administrative privileges) to access the payment options despite assurances from WP engineers to the contrary.

You see, WP Engineers are apparently so incompetent that they can’t handle the change of ownership of a website. Furthermore, I had a nearly 30 minute long chat with one who assured that the issue had been resolved. Only, he lied. I’m still getting payment update notices about the site. And the organization’s staff can’t access the payment options to update it. Apparently, I’m still listed as the owner. Outrageous!

If they were my direct reports, I’d fire the lot for horrible customer service and an inability to do their jobs. Again, I would have preferred to give them all the what-for in a chat but they only gave me this option. So, let their incompetence be broadcasted far and wide.

  • So, it looks like there was some weirdness on the backend where the domain didn’t get completely transferred to the new owner. The WordPress.com staff member you talked would have seen the transfer go through, but it really didn’t.

I should have it fixed now. Please reply here and let me know ASAP if you are still getting email or the new owner is having trouble accessing.

Thank you. This is the kind of response and service I expected the first time around. I will contact the new owner of outshinenwdotorg and confirm that the switch has in fact taken place.

  • Let me know either way so that we can dig into it again if something wend sideways.

I have just received word from the new owner. They can access all the settings and the payment information. So, it looks like the problem has been resolved. Thank you.
