wrong blog address created during creation of blog

Somehow I got my blog address as our60sdotcom.wordpress.com. I also have an address that I meant to have, our60s.wordpress.com. I have built the blog on the our60sdotcom.wordpress.com site, and want to transfer the content to the address I want, our60s.wordpress.com, or just change the address of our60sdotcom.wordpress.com to our60s.wordpress.com. When I try to change the address to what I want, our60s.wordpress.com, I’m told I can’t do that because that address already exists. Yes, it exists, and it’s mine. On my dashboard both addresses are listed. I want to get rid of our60sdotcom.wordpress.com — how can I do that? (And I must have clicked on that when it came up as a choice when I set up the blog — why the heck is spelling out dotcom even a choice you offer?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • As you’ve found, if the address already exists, the system won’t allow you to change to that address.

You you are going to need to transfer your content using these instructions:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-between-wordpress-com-blogs

However, as you are using a custom domain (our60s.com) you may want to just consider using our60sdotcom.wordpress.com and saving yourself the trouble of moving. Your site viewers will never see our60sdotcom.wordpress.com and will only ever see our60s.com.

Rootjosh, that’s exactly what I did, just went ahead with the dotcom URL spelled out. Like you said, too much trouble to do anything else. Works great now when someone goes to our60s.com
    Thanks!!

  • Great to hear!

I really think that’s the best solution.

    Happy blogging!
