Wrong domain name in order email?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I ordered the Premium version of WordPress, and I would like my domain (www.pvpbio.com) to point to my WordPress site, while people who come to the site still see http://www.pvpbio.com. However, my order detail says that I purchased a custom domain for pvpbiodotcom.wordpress.com. Is this a mistake? http://www.pvpbio.com right now forwards to that http://pvpbiodotcom.wordpress.com/ site, but I can’t seem to have it retain the pvpbio.com url.

    Please give me a hand!

    Thanks,

    Ingrid

    Hi Ingrid,

The address pvpbiodotcom.wordpress.com is your permanent, free WordPress.com address. That’s the address you’ll see in your site’s dashboard when you’re managing it. (We use that address to make sure that nothing ever happens to your site’s content, even if you stop using your custom domain.)

To make it so your site’s visitors see your custom domain pvpbio.com, you can set that as the primary domain for the site. You can do that from Store > My Domains in your site’s dashboard here:

    https://pvpbiodotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

Just a note, it can take a little time for that switch to take effect everywhere (especially on a computer where you visited the site before making the change). Right after you switch the primary domain you might have trouble visiting the site, but that will sort itself out after waiting a bit.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

Okay, I got it figured out. Thanks!

Any way that we can have the URL read “www.pvpbio.com” instead of just “pvpbio.com”?

Your domain, http://www.pvpbio.com, will always be redirected to pvpbio.com, so you can feel free to use either version on your business cards or elsewhere.

Redirecting the first version of your URL to the second version helps to ensure that search engines index your site properly.

Don’t hesitate to contact me again if you need anymore help.
