  We would like to change our site to something that has a better layout for ease of use for parents, students and teachers. Can we keep our name under a different and point it towards wordpress?

  Hi there,

  Yes what you can do to get started is create a site under your account that you can move content to. https://wordpress.com/start/

  In the process of setting up your site you will be asked what address (URL) you would like for the site. For now you can skip that and choose the free “wordpress.com” site address option.

  This will allow you to set up your replacement site in private, at an address that no one knows about. When you are ready to ‘launch’ your new site to replace the existing one you have now, that is the time you will want to connect your domain. At the very end, basicallyi

  We have options to either transfer your domain to your account here, or leave it with your current provider and use settings to connect it to your site here. Either option will seamlessly replace your old site with the new one (at the same URL) and when you are ready to connect your domain we’re happy to walk you through those two options in greater detail.
