Yearly plan renewed 1 month early – Refund request

    Hello. I saw from my bank statements that an automatic payment was being processed to WordPress for a 1-year plan. This took me by surprise as I was expecting this to occur later this month.

    I cancelled my account as soon as I realised, within the 14-day window (plan was renewed on May 24, today is June 8). To ensure no further billing, I deactivated the paid plan.

    Once I contacted the chatbot support, however, I was told that escalating with a human would only be possible for paid plan subscribers – and I was no longer one.

    The anticipated billing, plus the removal of client support even for those who have just paid for one full year, left me feeling defeated. Is there any way I can proceed for a refund of this expense?

    P.S.: I was referred to this forum by the AI customer support, which is unable to escalate directly to human customer support. According to the chatbot, “The best option now is to post in the WordPress.com Forums where WordPress.com staff can see your issue and help with the refund.” Thanks!

    P.P.S.: Looking at my bank statements, the renewal actually took place on May 25. On June 8, when I proceeded to eliminate my account and its linked domain, I should have been within the allowed window for reimbursement. Please let me know if anything is possible in this case, thanks.

We renew yearly subscriptions a month before expiration to prevent service interruption in case of payment issues.     Also, please keep in mind the refund period is 14 days for yearly plans and 96 hours for domains
