Yoast eye marker not working on classic WordPress editor

We’ve recently installed the free Yoast plugin, which comes with a readability feature. The eye marker should highlight the sentences deemed as problems by Yoast but this is not working. When the eye marker is selected, nothing happens.

I’ve looked online and couldn’t find anything referencing this particular issue – it not working on the classic WordPress editor. I’m using the visual editor as Yoast suggests in their knowledge base:

And I’ve tried switching the view to blocks but this did not make a difference.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Hi there, in order to install the Yoast plugin here on WPcom, your site would need to be on the Business or eCommerce plan. That would also give you direct access to support via Live Chat or email, which doesn’t seem to be the case here.

If the site you’re working on is using the open source WP software with 3rd party hosting like GoDaddy, Bluehost and the like, you’ll find support for your software at https://wordpress.org/support/ For questions about the Yoast plugin, you’ll want to contact the plugin author directly or post to their support forums.

Just to clarify, this support forum assists users of the WPcom platform. More information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
