YouTube Video Embedding. Help!
-
Hi,
I have my own self-written acting website (please don’t judge, it’s a learning process). I’ve just updated my showreel and when I embed the video on ‘Page’, I get the grey box with white circles, rather than a ‘still’ from the video before a visitor to the site presses the ‘Play’ button. It’s a minor thing, but I’ve spent hours trying to resolve it as this didn’t happen with my old reel on the same page. I’ve compared all the Youtube settings on the two videos and no difference.
I downloaded Firefox, same result as Chrome.
Curiously, it displays with no issue on my iPhone.
The site is seanoconnor.biz, click the ‘showreel’ heading and you’ll see what I mean.
Thanks for any assistance in this. -
Hi Sean,
Your site is not hosted with us, so unfortunately we’re not able to help you here. We don’t have any control over or access to your site.
I see you’re embedding via Youtube, so my first guess would be it’s something on Youtube’s end. But as you’ve already checked that, it might have to do with the specific method you’re using to embed. That’s just an educated guess, though.
Please ask for advice over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ – those are the correct forums for the stand-alone version of WordPress you’re using for your site.

Hi there,
Thanks for the pointers. Appreciate it.
I have someone looking in to this issue for me now, but thank you for your time and I will certainly check the forums for stand-alone going forward.
Regards,
Sean.
