  how can i get wordpress to set this old blog, to which I have no access by email, to private mode? I just want it to disappear.
  I don’t have access to the email i used to set it up, or any proof of ownership – i don’t seem to have payed for it for decades

  I don’t have a site linked to this WordPress.com account

  Is it possible you created your site under a different login instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?
