Bio
My name is Andrew, I am based in the north-west of England at Lancaster Royal Grammar School, where I teach English; am OC of the RAF Section of the Combined Cadet Force at school; a boarding House tutor and Head of Careers & Work Experience.
I have been in Lancaster and England for 13 years now, originally spending my first 30 formative years( well, almost 30 years give or take a couple of months) in South Africa, where I grew up in a vibrant, multi-cultural, large seaside city called Durban, famous for, amongst a number of things: surfing; rickshaw rides and delightfully colourful Zulu dress and customs! So, what on earth made me give up "sun, sea, 'braais' and Zulu dancing", I hear you ask? Well, that is another story entirely, but the precise version is for career and family reasons: I have been blessed with 3 sons and the politically turbulent, volatile albeit exciting times in SA hastened a move over here, to calmer, secure, stable, albeit wetter shores.
I find the work of careers information, advice and guidance a fascinating and rewarding field. I thoroughly enjoy working with young people and hopefully, through this course, increase my knowledge and understanding of the subject and develop my role in post and future post/s.
Gosh, sorry for going on somewhat - you can tell I am an English teacher!
I look forward to working with you all in the very near future...
Cheers
Andrew
