Bio
Although I've lived in Chicago for fifteen years collectively, I don't feel like I REALLY arrived until the second time around, in 2001, a week before the attacks on the World Trade Center.
I returned after years of living in both Cincinnati and Richmond, VA, with one goal in mind, to continue my acting profession. I did quite well over a ten-year period, too, managing to pull off a recurring role in a satire of Christmas classic seen yearly by hundreds of people, and occasionally being availed to show a more sober side of myself in pieces like Shaw's MAJOR BARBARA. A two-and-a-half year stint in the Bailiwick Theater's long-running NAKED BOYS SINGING is on my resume also.
Interests never really change. But they do morph into different shapes as life twists and turns in various directions, kind of like a river, or a snake shaking the dust from its stomach.
I found myself craving other tastes and began a studies in both massage therapy and wine. In 2005, I became a licensed massage therapist. Then in 2010, I accepted Certified Sommelier certificate after a few years of self-study.
These professions aside, my ART also took a new direction. I found a taste for storytelling, not my own stories, but those of others. And that, along with wine and the occasional massage client, has led me to today.
I have a profound respect for service and hospitality, which is the main reason I'm blogging. No, I'm not on a Waiter Rant (although he's pretty thorough), and I'm certainly not telling anyone what to drink. Rather, I'm recording those stories I feel show a side of hospitality that is quickly lost. And when I say "lost", I mean in the time it takes for a restaurant to open its doors, then shut them forever. No one will ever be able to share the stories told in those places-- unless someone does.
