Bio
Annie Edney is a Melbourne based multi-disciplinary contemporary artist whose work explores our human relationship with the planet at a cellular level, investigating the process by which we assimilate external factors into our emotional selves. These external factors include personal genealogy and metempsychosis, geology and earth energy, subjective experience and social history. Currently Edney is exploring the concept that we can choose change our DNA by changing our behaviour, thinking, diet, exercise.
Edney has extensive experience creating site-specific celebratory events with themes of environment and social harmony. She works consistently with environmental themes, often with Indigenous people, and also has a keen interest in ritual, ceremony and celebration.
Edney’s work offers excerpts from academic research, heart and social consciousness. She completed a Master of Contemporary Art at the VCA in 2015.
She is represented in private and public collections including the City of Yarra, Museum of the Riverina, Macquarie University, and the Abbotsford Convent. Edney’s video art is included in Melbourne Art Loop 2016 I & II, curated by MARS Gallery.
