Bio
I’m a Berkeley trained Art Historian who became a free lance Set Decorator for film. I’m a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Set Decorators Society of America and International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. All of which means I’ve sharpened my visual wits on everything from small independent films like Leaving Las Vegas, to exploitation films like The Fast and the Furious, to gigantic blockbusters like Iron Man I and II. The best part of being involved in any movie is the story behind the story - a Director who disappears with his Leading Lady or a Financer who turns out to be a money-launderer from the Cayman Islands. There’s always just as much drama behind the scenes as there is in front of the camera.
I travel from country to country to hunt down that offbeat love story, the diabolical mystery or the vile conspiracy that’s tangled up with the world’s greatest art and the world’s greatest food. I’m looking for true confessions from a masterpiece like the Alhambra in Spain to a minor piece like the Leonardo Museum in da Vinci - with stops along the way to indulge in edible delights. Follow me to these behind-the-scenes adventures in the pursuit of art:
--to Dublin where the recently discovered Caravaggio “lost painting” hangs just a few blocks from the National museum’s bog mummy found with his nipples cut off!
--to Stockholm where Prince Eugene’s tranquil sculpture garden is only a stone’s throw from the lavish royal warship Vasa that capsized less than a mile out on its maiden voyage in 1628.
-- to Rome where we scale the arduous ascent up 537 steps to the top of St. Peter’s in Vatican City and look out to ancient Roman Villa Quintilii, host to ostentatious sex parties with underage babes.
And I’ll always remember to get you well fed. I’ll only lead you to remarkable restaurants that won’t waste your calories on bad food! So follow me if you’re hungry for art and hungry for a culinary journey.
