Cross-Cultural Educator | German-Australian | Gold Coast, Queensland
Former Director of Studies (Studiendirektor) with 43 years teaching German, English, and
American Studies across Germany, Namibia, and Australia. Served as German Language Adviser
for Education Queensland and the Goethe-Institut (1998-2005), supporting 1,000+ teachers
statewide. Studied American Studies at the John F. Kennedy Institute, Freie Universität Berlin.
Since retired in 2015, I've become a "half digital nomad"—blogging about higher education,
German literature, cross-cultural pedagogy, and the peculiar experience of living between
two continents and two languages. Daily ocean swims at Burleigh Beach. Occasional caravan
trips through the Australian Hinterland. Continuous engagement with the question: what does
education mean in the 21st century? How can we master AI tools? Are we worried about AGI?
