Bio
I, Chuck Wells, a 48-year-old man, who should have known better, suffer through a series of misadventures to beat the odds and reach the 800-meter final at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
A former high school track standout 30 years ago, all I wanted was an excuse to exercise.
When I start working out, however, my long-dormant dream of reaching the Olympics surfaces. It becomes a Olympic-sized obsession and problem.
Not only do I have to deal with my age and recalcitrant legs but, toughest of all, the disapproval of my wife. Only my two daughters believe in me from the beginning.
And I'll be honest: I got more help -- and luck -- than you can believe.
