Bio
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and remember when the World Trade Center was being built. As teenagers, my twin sister and I took the train to Wall Street where we had a part time after school job at 72 Wall Street so I am very familiar with the geography of lower Manhattan.
My mom was born and raised in the Yorkville section of New York City and my dad (who emigrated from Ireland as a child) lived most of his early years in Brooklyn. He worked for many years on lower Broadway until 1973 when my parents relocated to Stamford, CT when my dad’s employer moved to Stamford.
In 1972 I moved to Bermuda where I met and married my husband, who is originally from England. Our eldest son was born in Bermuda and a year later we relocated to Massachusetts where eventually I gave birth to two more sons.
I became a grandparent for the first time in 2009 and then again in 2010. On the lighter side, we did offer to buy our son and daughter-in-law a TV for their bedroom which they politely declined!! Seriously though, when I became a grandparent I realized that all children that were very young in 2001 and those born after that tragic day would have no personal recollections of that day. Yes, they will study it in their history lessons but I believe it will become more 'real' for them if they can read personal stories about that day from everyday folks.
