Bio
Eyde Hurst’s vision of providing personalized, compassionate skin care treatment for compromised skin is currently the only oncology skincare service offered in Connecticut. Eyde has obtained the necessary training founded by the Mórag Currin, method called “Touch for Cancer”. Mórag’s program is well established across the United States, Canada, Australia, Italy and New Zealand. It is the first to be offered and practiced in Connecticut and based out of the Oneida Holistic Center in Marlborough, CT.
The purpose of a complementary therapy is not to treat the cancer, itself but to treat the person as a whole. Complementary therapies help a person cope with cancer, its treatment or side effects, and to feel better. Side effects from cancer treatment effects all aspects of the patient’s life, including emotional and psychosocial issues, body-image issues, work-related and financial issues.
The practice of providing specialized skin treatments for men and women currently undergoing cancer treatment(s) verifies that certified/licensed estheticians are specifically trained to provide comfort and relief from compromised skin conditions. Eyde possesses a deep understanding of the effects of cancer on the body and how best to safely accommodate those clients while working alongside the Oncology teams prescribing treatment.
Eyde founded “Pure Harmony Skin Care” that specializes in addressing compromised skin concerns at an affordable price. Eyde works in a “pay it forward” approach by donating 10% of all treatment proceeds to help those in need of financial assistance to enable anyone that suffers from sometimes painful skin conditions, a nurturing, comforting and healing approach to skin care concerns. Additionally, Eyde offers a “caregivers treat”, as cancer impacts not only the individual receiving the treatments but also family, friends and caregivers. Eyde also offers home and hospice care visitations for those individuals that cannot travel to the center.
