Bio
Graunt Kruger, a former banker with Standard Bank of South Africa, has worked on projects to extend financial services to low-income individuals and small businesses. He just completed his PhD on financial inclusion at the business school of University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg. His research examines the current boundaries of financial services for the poor, identifies gaps in financial sector services, and explores future directions for innovations in financial sector policy and commercial opportunities. In 2005 Graunt was the Nelson Mandela Scholar at the London School of Economics and completed a Master of Science in New Media, Information & Society focusing on technology capability learning in innovation hubs. He also holds and MBA from Wits and a BJourn from Rhodes University. He was chosen by the Mail & Guardian as one of 300 Young South Africans you have to take to lunch in 2009.
