Bio
For 15 years I was an educator, mostly a special educator, before leaving to go into higher education to help prepare future teachers in ways that they needed. Through a hope, a dream, and most days pure miracle, I finished my Ph.D. in education, social justice, and mental health. In 2014, I founded and am the Executive Director of pleasepassthelove.org school mental health nonprofit. When we started, the willingness to talk about mental health in schools was limited to nothing. Thankfully that is changing.
Often times there is a disconnect between the scholarly world and practitioners. Information can be dense and not communicated in a user-friendly way. My goal with this blog is to get relevant, high-quality, intersectional school mental health info into the hands of those in classrooms and schools with minimal effort on their part.
