Bio
Hi my name is Jo, short for Johanna. I am happy to be living the life I live on a beautiful piece of land I've decided to call Sun Dog Ranch. I have sunrises and sunsets to die for here. If you are ever going to see a sundog (a real atmospherical phenomenom) you will see it out my back yard. Sun Dog is forty two acres of red dirt and basalt on a ridge in Northern California. About five acres sit flat on the ridge overlooking the beautiful Rock Creek Canyon and almost all of Northern California. The other 37 acres tumble down to one of the branches of meandering Rock Creek. It takes about an hour to hike down a trail to the creek.
The Sun Dogs who live on the land every day (3 to 5 at any given time) are my beloved Golden Retrievers. I also have two horses. An Appaloosa gelding named GQ who I think taught me everything I need to know about horses. And then Chiron, my 10 yr old quarter horse who never ceases to amaze me with his antics. And that is not all! I have 5 goats and a wild guard donkey (I gentled) named Rosie.
I need entertaining and calm in my life after over twenty years as a pediatric nurse caring for children with cancer and healthy newborns too. I'm still an active RN and will keep my foot in the door of nursing for awhile but I am pursuing other paths in life. Finding my passion and surviving with out a "day Job". My passions are almost too many now! I have my equine and wild horse photography producing fine art. I have Sun Dog Ranch which is undergoing transformations into an event venue. I raise an annual or every other year litter of English Cream Golden Retrievers (more Sun Dogs) And of course I have this blog which is a labor of love.
As you can imagine everyday on Sun Dog there is a story to tell. Most recently (the year of 2015) was a tough one. My blog posts were infrequent as I was caring for my late husband Roy "Rockin' Roy" as known in The Sun Dog Drift blog who tragically had his life cute short dying of brain cancer on December 12,2015 My post "Heart Wide Open" is the last post which I was able to write about Roy.
I hope you will follow me while I rebuild my life and continue this blog
Adios Amigos!
