Bio
Jay Simpson was born in Sydney and now lives in Perth Western Australia. She worked as an English, Drama and Music Teacher for many years in High Schools, TAFE and the University of Newcastle. She devotes most of her time these days to writing poetry and online publishing. She moved to Perth, Western Australia in 2011 following a personal tragedy.
Jay is the editor/publisher of her online Literary Magazine ‘semiosis‘ and co-editor/publisher of ‘libretext’ Chapbooks.
She is a poet whose goal is to grow and change through experimental writing, reading, collaboration and an exchange of ideas. In her work she explores language, sound, color and form through obscurity and sometimes absurdity. Her collaborator, American poet, Randy Barnes works with her, and she with him, to explore the possibilities of their art and their poetic collaborations.

Jay is not an ekphrastic poet but she loves to pair her poetry with art and may spend hours finding the art piece that works best with each poem.
