Bio
Welcome to Mama Laura’s Herbal Addiction allow me to introduce myself. I identify first and foremost as a mother to my three grown children. I raised them as a single parent and found that to be a blessing. Over the course of the years of raising them several of their friends came to call me Mama too and many sought respites in my home. This is the reason for naming my business. Over all these years I have been able to provide a safe place with honest advice to all these children. It has been a blessing to me and to my children knowing their friends had a safe place to express themselves without judgement.
I have always been drawn to natural remedies, no matter what I’ve done over the years that passion has never faded. As a matter of fact, it has just gotten stronger over the years. I have spent countless years helping those close to me by doing research into alternative medicines to help them, I was gifted with an opportunity to finally follow my dream and go to school to learn more about my passion. Now I will be able to reach many and help them help themselves towards a healthier lifestyle. I owe it all to a very wonderful man and I will forever love and appreciate what he has done to make my dream become reality. He has been my first case study and I am learning much.
For schooling there are many options available for you to learn herbalism. I chose a program that best suited me and my interests. Many herbal studies include growing and foraging for plants, this however is not something that was of interest to me. Never had a green thumb nor a desire to dig in the dirt. I chose New Eden School and chose to pursue an Associates degree in Medical Herbalism. This degree spoke to who I am at my core, in search of how each of our body systems can be healed through a natural approach. I am also one class away from obtaining my Aromatherapy certification.
Just because my degree is for Medical Herbalism does not make me a licensed physician. I am unable to diagnose or treat disease that is for your allopathic physician to do for you. I strongly recommend you speaking to your physician before making any changes to medications, diet, exercise and supplementation. What I hope to do is provide a guide for you to decide what best suits you and then you discuss the information thoroughly with your physician.
I have had many personal experiences over the years that have driven my passion for natural remedies to help myself, family and friends. My own personal struggle is anxiety with panic attacks. I’ll be writing about that down the road. I look forward to getting to know you.
