Bio
Founded in 2008, Lower Depth Theater Ensemble grew out of the belief that theater should reflect a wide diversity of experience and background, give audiences the chance to visit places outside the ordinary, transform community consciousness and create a forum for audiences to come together, debate and share. The founding members—Gregg T. Daniel, Jason Delane, Yvonne Huff and Veralynn Jones--all came to the company with a wealth of professional stage experience in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. They sought to create a company that embodied the values of family, diversity and community. A company dedicated to giving a voice to playwrights and performers too often neglected on the Los Angeles stage.
Since its founding, LDTE has produced two mainstage productions which garnered positive reviews and launched a play reading series and a script development workshop. These programs have become core to the company’s process and identity. With an established audience and plans to grow its activities, reach and community of support over the next two, LDTE is poised to move to the next phase of its development as a leader in the diverse Los Angeles theater community.
