Bio
A self-proclaimed "job gypsy," Mary Ascher has over thirty years’ work experience in a variety of occupations and work environments – all without ever leaving Wisconsin! She’s worked in manufacturing offices (purchasing and customer service), retail stores (sales and merchandising), food service (wait staff and supervisor), and television (continuity writer, traffic manager, sales research specialist). Those are the indoor jobs. Outdoors, she has spent several summers at Boy Scout and Girl Scout resident camps, as Business Manager, Health Officer, and Camp Director.
Between and among these experiences, she’s also been a student and/or a teacher all her life, amassing over 200 graduate and undergraduate credits. She has earned a B.A. in Economics from St. Norbert College in De Pere, an M.B.A. from UW-Oshkosh, and an M.S. from UW-Whitewater. In 2006, she earned 12 graduate credits in Business and Finance at La Trobe University in Bundoora, Australia. She has also earned certification as a C.P.M. from the ISM (Institute of Supply Management, formerly National Association of Purchasing Management), and certification in the Basics of Supply Chain Management from APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society)
Mary retired at the end of 2013 from a 17-year career as a full-time instructor in Economics, Critical Thinking, and Logistics at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay. Previously, she had been a part-time Lecturer in Professional Communications and Economics at Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, and a workshop facilitator at UW-Green Bay.
She lives on Moody Lake north of Suring, Wisconsin, with her husband Don. Their hobbies include camping and fishing and winter sports, along with volunteering as Boy Scout leaders. They have four grown children who reside in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Australia, and four grandchildren.
