Bio
My name is Michelle Dee. I am a writer/performer/researcher working in the Arts and Culture sector. I graduated with a first class honours degree in Interactive Media/Digital Media Journalism from Hull School of Art and Design 2009 – 2012. I have been writing for web in the city of Hull East Yorks. for over fifteen years. I was described as being: 'the writing powerhouse behind the runaway success of the award-winning www.thisisull.com' and Hull's first hyperlocal news portal hyperfruit.net.
"Some people are married to their art, but Michelle is much closer to being art herself. She is a tireless evangelist of the fresh, the worthy and the different, and has presented and hosted several landmark events around Hull including the Hull Aid Tsunami Benefit Event and a year of ThisisUll-sponsored live gigs.
She is also an exceptionally warm writer with the ability to wrap you up in her enthusiasms, and even to make you cry."
I was involved in promoting Hull's historic Fruitmarket before and during Hull's Bid for UK City of Culture status awarded in 2017, and co-produce the highly successful independent literary event series Women of Words whilst pursuing collaborations with artists, writing and performing stand alone shows in the locality.
My aim has always been to raise the profile of the cultural capital in Hull and give a platform for the talented artists within.
