Bio
Joanne Miller is a stand up, actor and writer who has worked in film, tv, radio and theatre. She recently made her debut at the Halifax Comedy Fest, YUK YUK’S, The Last Laugh Comedy Club and will be opening for Derek Edwards at Casino Nova Scotia on August 3 . Her plays Habit of Murder, Cradle and All and Snow Globe have played to sold out houses across Canada. A writer on this season of This Hour Has 22 minutes, she also is currently performing her one woman stand up show MJ Live!, in venues across Canada. Joanne can also be seen on her channel MJ Comedy on Youtube and in her weekly facebook news show entitled 3 Dumb Things on MJ’s Wall. In 2014, her sit com, Dear Stella, was voted top 30 in the CBC Comedy Coup pitch contest. As an actor she has worked in theatres in every province in Canada, including the Stratford Shakespearean Festival. Her work has been recognized with nominations for two Merritt Awards and two ACTRA Awards. She played the lead on CBC’s series Backbencher, which took home a New York Festivals award. She also played the lead in the Gemini award-winning TV series Olliver's Adventures. On television, she currently plays Justina Epp in PURE for CBC, Hulu and the SuperChannel and was a reoccurring performer for TV with TV’s Jonathan Torrens. She has also appeared in the TV shows Trailer Park Boys, SEED, The Mist, Haven, Mr. D, Call me Fitz and in many Canadian films which no one ever watches.
