Bio
Dr. Tanner and his wife, Michelle, co-founded HealingChoice a Christian umbrella organization for several types of therapeutic care. Initially born out of their work in pastoral ministry, they have a deep care for those who are working in ministry or have left the ministry for some reason.
As HealingChoice grew, they opened a therapy clinic and broadened their work to people who are struggling with relationship issues, trauma, stress, depression, and anxiety. Their work with people is primarily focused on the Christian mandate to “love one another” (John 13:34). Thus, it is their mission to love all people regardless of their struggle in life, sexual identity, or view of religion.
Now, HealingChoice is expanding with a new startup, Planning the Practice, helping clinicians focus on their growth goals.
Dr. Tanner has served as the Director of Academic Programs and Founding Director for Integrative Studies at Texas Tech University for the past eleven years. He is also the author of Introduction to Integrative Studies (3rd edition) published by Kendall Hunt and Co-Editor of Perspectives of Interdisciplinary and Integrative Studies published by TTU Press. He currently serves as a board member for the Association for Interdisciplinary Studies and as the Executive Director for Alpha Iota Sigma Honor Society.
His research interests are interdisciplinary and include the interaction of work and family, work and health concerns, and program assessment. He has published primary research on forced termination of clergy and its effects on clergy and their families. His publications can be found in interdisciplinary peer-reviewed academic journals as well as trade publications and organizational newsletters.
