Bio
I am a passionate Librarian and Information Professional committed to advancing equitable access to knowledge, proudly affiliated with Hawassa University (HU), Ethiopia. With over two decades of experience in academic librarianship and digital innovation, my work focuses on empowering communities through inclusive, ethical, and sustainable information services.
Since 2020, I have led the Book Aid International–Hawassa University partnership, expanding access to print and digital resources across the Sidama Region and beyond. I also lead the Bright Future Generation Project, mobilizing resources and raising funds in collaboration with Books For Africa to strengthen literacy and education initiatives across the Sidama Region of Ethiopia. In my role as Partnership Coordinator with international library support organizations based at HU, I work to advance literacy, education, and digital inclusion nationwide.
I am actively engaged in regional and global professional networks, including AfLIA, IFLA, and ALA, and I serve as Country Coordinator for LibraryX Africa – Ethiopia, a pan-African initiative of Library Aid Africa. My collaborations with organizations such as Book Aid International, Books for Africa, and the International Law Book Facility reflect a sustained commitment to building impactful partnerships that advance knowledge equity.
Recognized as Librarian of the Month by Librarian Spotlight Africa (August 2024), I advocate for ethical AI, digital literacy, Open Access (OA), and Open Educational Resources (OER) through my professional platform, INFOLIBNET. Guided by the vision “Empowering Knowledge. Inspiring Resilience.” I remain focused on shaping a future where every learner can grow, connect, and thrive—contributing meaningfully to SDG 4: Quality Education in Ethiopia and beyond.
