Anneliese Place is the founder of Rock ’n’ Roll Highway, a platform documenting historic music landmarks across the United States and Europe. Her work focuses on how music moves through place, shaping culture, infrastructure, and the economy of movement. She is the creator of the “History of Sound” framework, a system that explains how venues, streets, studios, and audiences work together to turn local scenes into global music movements. From early blues routes to modern rock cities, her work connects the physical places of music to the cultural impact they create. Before launching Rock ’n’ Roll Highway, Anneliese owned The Compound, a live music venue known for hosting performances year-round and building community through sound. That real-world experience informs her approach to documenting music history not just as a timeline, but as something built, organized, and sustained through place. Her work has been featured in major media including The Wall Street Journal, Yahoo, and international publications. She continues to document, preserve, and activate music landmarks through storytelling, public installations, and cultural mapping projects.
