Bio
I've devoted my life to exploration of myself, others, and the earth. I discovered my affinity to the wilderness embarking on one week Sierran backback trips with the YMCA. Since the late 70s, I have expanded my outdoor passions into rock climbing, mountaineering, and mountain biking. I've devoted half of my life to the study of geology, beginning my career in environmental geology while residing in Santa Barbara. I searched for work in the field of engineering geology at the end of 2007, working briefly on assessment of geologic hazards with potential pump storage facilities at a mid-sized renewable energy company in Sacramento. I currently work as an engineering geologist in the California Department of Transportation, mapping and characterizing large landslides along the Big Sur coast, logging soil and rock for foundation design of highway bridges, and assorted other geotecnical work associated with state highway improvements. I spend much of my free time exploring nature's landscapes on foot or by mountain bike, pondering on the origin of the earth's geomorphic expression. I've turned a new leaf in life, following an old passion...to learn all I can about myself, others, and the earth.
