Bio
What can I say about myself? Well what would you want to know is the real question...
I have been married for 23 years, I have five children and 1 grand daughter.
Cooking is something I'm passionate about. My father was a chef and owned a restaurant. Many of my recipes have been handed down from generation to generation. I'm of Italian heratige mostly so the family recipes tend to be very "earthy " in ingriedient. Basically what food was sustainable for the reigon, what grew, swam their waters, and roamed the area is what was "on the menu".
I've adapted most of these recipes to accommodate a more time efficient ideal however. Gone are the days when women would rise with the sun pounding doughs, trimming meats and starting a meal that needs to be cooked for several hours. Men and women of today are far to busy getting up before the sunrise to get into work drop kids at school and daycare and hustle through their day in an attempt to get back home and be able to enjoy a meal together. So why not make things a little simpler?
There will be dishes that need longer cooking hours, I will do my best to inform the reader beforehand if this is nessesary.
Old world family recipes are not all you will find though, there will be an eclectic selection to meet any need.
Lastly, keep in mind that when cooking a "family" meal at home it isn't required that everything look like a restaurant quality plate. Although presentation is nice it's more important you are prideful of the taste and quality of your dish. Trust me when I say that I've eaten many things that looked pretty yet had no flavor or even a terrible combination of flavors.
Im noticing more and more chefs and restaurants combining foods that simply have no place together. I get it, the effort to be "gitchy" and the "first" at something due to competition is strong right now. I see magazine covers and articles for recipes that are way to overboard and possibly giving the reader and novice cooks a terrible sense of priority in their dishes. Very often simplicity rules when it comes to food. Adding a bit of herb to enhance its flavor or pairing one food properly can really be very simple and extremely satisfying!
I hope you will enjoy my blog!
I have so many things planned including guest articles, topics such as paring and seasoning, we will even touch on some hacks to make cooking easier and allow you more time at the THE TABLE where you belong !
