Bio
Guitarist Stephen Mattingly has been warmly received by audiences as a soloist and as founding member of the Tantalus Quartet. Performance highlights include Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez with Orchestra Kentucky and solo concerts in England, Finland, Germany, Poland, and Panamá. As recipient of the prestigious Presser Award, he recorded the complete guitar chamber works by Franz Schubert. His first solo recording was released in 2016 on SoundSet Recordings.
Stephen enjoys a vibrant career as Associate Professor of Guitar at the University of Louisville in the United States. He is a member of the Kentucky Arts Council Performing Arts Directory and has been featured at major venues including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Silesian Guitar Autumn in Poland, the Guitar Foundation of America Convention, the Iserlohn Guitar Symposium in Germany, the Columbus State Guitar Symposium, the Acadia International Guitar Festival in Canada, and the New York Guitar Seminar.
