Bio
Three years ago, I embarked on an adventure that has taken me farther than I ever expected to go. I married the love of my life, a wonderful man from Kenya. Over the past three years, I've learned how to cook Kenyan food, lost over 100 pounds (and still going), learned some Kiswahili, had a daughter with my husband, and the biggest adventure of all, moved to Kenya.
I have had many adventures in Kenya. Some big, some small. Almost all of them deal with cultural differences between the US and Kenya.
Each post will deal with something I've learned or observed and expound upon the differences between the US and Kenya, or just be a funny story about something that happened to me. Although there are other blogs out there written by expats living in Kenya, I write from a slightly differing point of view. Most of the expats living in Kenya are married to other expats and live in the "expat" areas. I live in an area where I am the only Mzungu (white person) in the neighborhood. When I walk down the street, kids (and some adults) shout, "Mzungu!" My husband is Kenyan, our friends are Kenyan and I use public transportation, walk in my neighborhood without fear and shop in the small markets with confidence.
