Bio
My name is Tawanda Shingirai and I was born in Zimbabwe in the early 1980s. I started working with art in my early 20s as a soapstone artist and a retailer of Zimbabwean Shona art, in the local market by the City Hall in my hometown Bulawayo. A few years later I joined with three of my brothers and founded the company Stone Age, which later took us to Cape Town in South Africa. We exhibited our art at several markets including the Blue Shed Craft Market, today known as the Watershed, situated in the exclusive V&A Waterfront. In 2009 I moved to Sweden, thus bringing the Stone Age art to the European market.
