A little about me and what I hope to accomplish with this blog...
I wish I could say that my obsession with food came at the apron strings of my grandmother, watching her intently as she baked scratch pies and homemade cookies or at the elbow of my mother as she cooked dinner every night. Truth be told, my mother was not much of a cook. Fried chicken with mashed potatoes and white gravy on Sundays , and she could take a 6 inch minute steak and pound it until it could feed a family of 6. That was her cooking repertoire.
My obsession with cooking, cookbooks and recipes in general, started with a single cookbook from a seafood restaurant where I worked and through the years has taken on a life of it's own (anyone out there looking for a recipe, for anything? I'm your girl!). My obsession is borderline sick. Oh, who am I kidding, I am a very sick individual when it comes to anything food related. There, I have said it. I know I need help, but I don't want help, I love my sick obsession! Is that so wrong?
My passion - no obsession with food and all things food related, was really born from the old saying " the way to a man's heart is through his stomach". Yes, you guessed it, it was to impress a man. It worked. We have been together 37 years! Much more about my husband (affectionately referred to as "G") and his love of MY cooking in later "episodes".
I love challenges in cooking, I don't shy away from any recipe that intrigues me, no matter what the length or ingredient list.
My cooking bucket list encludes roasting a whole pig and making cassoulet from Julia Child's recipe.
I hope you enjoy my food and the journey along the way to food heaven.
